My husband and I got married here in a very intimate ceremony on Valentine’s Day! The staff were absolutely incredible in making this day so special for us. Coral was so accommodating and met each of our requests, going above and beyond expectations. From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIPs, with Coral being available to answer any questions and help smooth out last minute bits and bobs. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated. The ceremony itself was stunning, with the staff taking care and paying attention to all the little details. The food was insanely delicious and absolutely knocked us off our feet. Overall it was the best day and couldn’t have been possible without everyone at Gowlland Harbour but especially Coral.
We had the most peaceful stay at the Harbour Hideaway at Gowlland Harbour Resort. It’s perched up on this beautiful rocky outcropping, giving you amazing views on the surrounding nature and water, a chance to see adorable sea life and (on a clear day) the magnificent views of Strathcona Park.
The Hideaway has everything you need for a super comfortable stay, is totally self-contained and has an epic soaker tub. It’s nicely decorated for the holidays right now, not over-the-top, but just right.
There’s also a great sauna on the main deck of the lodge which we loved. Lynette and Frank were great hosts, making sure we had everything we needed! We will definitely be back again.
Quadra Island is a beautiful island and Gowlland Harbour resort embraces its wilderness and serenity. The long drive entranceway is commanding; the small mobile home/ RV en route to the lodge itself and the jumble of outbuildings were a disconnect with how the resort had marketed itself. The lodge was bright and open, the staff cheery and views of the harbour all encompassing. Overall, the main lobby is cavernous and bright while my room was small and utilitarian and had no wifi. Be prepared to stock up On your data plan. It is a hiker’s lodge; not a relais chateau! On arrival, I drove up to the double doors for check in but after an overnight snowfall check out was much more difficult due to lobby access and a car that was not designed for ice. Just another reinforcing of the age old lesson in travelling light, I was forced to hand truck all of my bags up to the car park in heavy snow. The dining room and decks that highlighted the sea views were welcome rest stops for peace and quiet.
We had our wedding at Gowlland Harbour Resort this summer and the staff and venue were spectacular! The staff at Gowlland Harbour are truly wonderful and they ensured that our day was perfect and went smoothly. Communication was quick and Lynette was always ready to help answer any questions we had leading up to the wedding! Not only is the venue gorgeous, but the food is amazing as well! All of our guests kept commenting on how tasty the food was. We can’t thank Gowlland enough for all of the hard work and love they put into creating such a magical wedding day!
Not a review for the resort, but for the restaurant. Delicious food, uniquely presented, by friendly professional waitstaff. Although the cauliflower bites were good, and many tables around us had also ordered them, there were too many options for sauces and flavours as well as dipping sauces that didn’t really pair well. The chef has far more talent than this, they belong on a pub menu, not a fine dining menu. Best prime rib dinner I’ve had in a restaurant. Ever. Stuffed butternut squash was also delicious. Solid five stars. Can’t wait to try the duck next.
Upscale hotel on a wooded waterfront property with fine dining, a sauna & a putting green.
