Been here many times. Good place to stay when you’re taking the BC ferries up the inside passage. Front desk can be GROUCHY at times, and if you’re getting in late, best to call ahead as their check-in system shuts down at 2am.
But otherwise a nice clean hotel with great rooms and decent wi-fi, so you can download your movies for your journey up the coast.
I have to say that since I was last there, restaurant has improved vastly, from “Meh” to “Yumm! 🙌” And, if you like coffee, I have to say that the stuff they serve at brekky has gone from battery acid that you could barely drink to AMAZING magical elixir. Today it was so good, I had a second cuppa at lunch! Bravo.
The front desk lady who was working at check in was not friendly, must have left her customer service skills at home? However the male working with her was amazing, super friendly. And then manager is absolutely great! As a family from a hockey team, there is always a negative feeling towards us. Unfortunately some teams ruin it for others. The hotel had a few teams staying there and I am so proud of our team, and parents for keeping their kids out of halls in the evenings. The hotel could work on their cleaning department….we found someone else’s food still in the fridge. But aside from the unfriendly staff on Friday at check in and a strangers food occupying our fridge the hotel was good. Close to everything (although I realize everything is close to everything in Port Hardy).
What a great place. It was updated 8 years ago but feels and looks like a new build. It is a very well appointed hotel, everything is is pristine condition. All staff were pleasant and helpful. We got ‘stuck’ in Port Hardy because of a BC ferries sail cancelation for a extra 2 days, fortunately the hotel had a room available for us.
The rooms and beds are very comfortable and well designed.
We did not visit the on-site pub but the restaurant was top notch. Unfortunately it is not open every night but the food and service was excellent.
There is a impressive native gallery on the second floor.
Without a doubt it is the best place to stay in Port Hardy.
Arrived after a 4 hour drive and drove past it as there were no lights on.
Pulled in thinking a power failure only to be told it was a planned outage for the hotel and it’s been off all day and they are trying to get a generator to work.
Decided to cancel and stay somewhere else only to be told we would be charged for the room ,
Front desk was adamant that we were informed at the time of booking there was no power in the hotel which we were not informed at the time of booking.
I don’t even think it is legal for the hotel to operate with no power/heat etc.
Finally after 3 rd time going back to front desk we got it cancelled.
We recently had an unexpected stay at the hotel when the Tsunami warning was posted July 2025. We were on a boat at the marina but felt it might be prudent to head for higher ground. The woman at the front desk was so kind to us and managed to accommodate us despite arriving at the last minute. The outside patio was the perfect place to enjoy a drink and meal. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We have recommended the hotel to friends and hope to visit again under less stressful circumstances.
