I attended a traditional FILIPINO Debut birthday event (18th) to this venue.
The venue staff Tracey managing everything effectively. Her willingness to accommodate the host needs and customized the event.
The event smoothly ran from beginning to end and everyone at the party had a great time.
I will highly recommend this venue!
Just had a wedding reception here. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Big hall and dance floor, parking, washrooms, bar and big foyer.
I had my wedding here about a year ago and honestly wouldn’t recommend to other couples for many reasons. We had made sure we asked questions, clarified and had everything organized. Going into the wedding we were confident things would go well, but unfortunately the PCC fell short. A few reasons listed below:
-As a bride you value timely, open communication. My emails would often not get answered for weeks on end, even close to the event date. They will claim that their business is run by volunteers which I can appreciate, but a successful business should also value timely communication. If you are someone that values timely communication, don’t book here.
– The bar ran out of coolers before the wedding party even arrived. We had specially ordered a type of cooler as an extra. We were told that the club has their usual stock of coolers that would be available, and that what we were ordering was in addition to those beverages. This was not the case. During dinner, our guests were told they could not have more wine that was on the table. We clarified with the person who ran the events, that guests could have wine throughout the night/during dinner. Water was served during dinner in small plastic cups.
– The line up for the bar was outrageously long almost the whole night. They only had 1-2 bartenders for an event of 200 people. During dinner, when the bar closes, there was no one to be found to serve pop or juice, which was part of our contract. We did not know about this until after.
– Dinner itself, the main meal, took over an hour to be served. If they didn’t have enough staff available or hired, they should’ve told us before the wedding or not offer this service for larger events. Instead they collected the extra payment required for a plated meal, making our guests wait around and for the schedule to be delayed.
– Personalized bottles of wine that they offer as a complimentary gift was not ordered. We asked about it afterwards, and they said it was forgotten but promised to make another order. This was received at a later date.
We did have a meeting with the committee after the wedding to discuss our concerns. They admitted that yes, dinner should not have taken that long, there was a problem in the kitchen. The president at the time also said the bar is not set up in a functional way to host large events. Despite the hall being able to host many people, if you have a large event with the bar open, take this into consideration. We were not told this until after the wedding. Many promises/clarifications were made by one staff member and they were obviously not communicated to the team.
Other than an apology for all the things that went wrong, there was no further compensation. I would not recommend this venue for a wedding.
On a positive note, the food is amazing and the venue inside is bright and spacious.
My wife and I had our wedding reception here and we could not be happier with how it went. The staff were wonderful, food was fantastic, and the venue itself is beautiful. They were timely with us in the planning, and they helped make the whole thing go by that much smoother from engagement to the big day. Thank you so much, guys!
We just had a wonderful experience at the Portuguese Canadian Club in Strathroy. They prepared a delicious buffet meal for our event. Everyone enjoyed the event space and the food. Their DJ recommendation was fun and worked out nicely for our event.
