This review is for the museum upstairs, but the whole building is a trip back in time, having served as the airman’s club during the American base’s operation in town. The museum is housed downstairs in the original bar area, with the original counter still intact.
The guided tour was quite informative, the tour guides well knowledgeable on the history of the area from the town’s founding to present, which helped bring context to some of the artifacts on display. I would highly recommend the tour and would definitely return on my next visit to Stephenville!
It’s not a good wedding venue. Without telling us beforehand, they closed the bar early, at 12:00 am during the wedding reception.
A lot of history in this building. The historic photos on the walls are great for conversation and show how the USA Air force helped shape the area. A great place for a wedding or any event.
In the basement of this building is the Stephenville Museum of History and it had a lot of memorabilia and history of the US airbase built here in the 1940s. It had a picture of my wife’s great grandfather who lived to be over 100 years old.
Very nice place. Takes you back in time. I loved the memorial wall.
