The resource center for the arts! I have had the pleasure to attend shows at the LSPU for over 30+ years. The quality of the shows hosted by the LSPU Hall never disappoints. There is a lot of history at the Long Shoreman’s Protectorate Union Hall building.
For as long as I can remember, the LSPU has provided a place for local plays and art shows. Great talent has passed through the doors. Most recently for me, I attended a production of Clue. Put off by Nothing on Productions. A long standing troupe that certainly has put in their time in the trenches. This project never failed to disappoint. Please see attached photos of the handout!

LSPU Hall, or as it’s known locally, The Hall. It’s the Cornerstone of Arts not just in St John’s or newfoundland, but for all of Atlantic canada.. if I’m right, I believe it was actually the LongShoreman’s Patrolman’s Union-Hall, meaning it it was actually the Union Hall at one point.

Every show I’ve been to there which is plenty, has been a banger. I highly recommend anything by Andy jones, of CODCO Fame, anything by or featuring Phil Churchill from the once of course Joel Hynes and the Feast of Cohen.

Ticket prices are a little high, and the drinks are outrageously expensive… that is my criticism for the hall, they are not making the Arts accessible, but Newfoundland has a long way to go cuz there are so many remarkable artists of all else here

Great theater. Surprisingly, it’s larger than you expect. Comfortable seats. Saw the sketch festival and laughed so hard that I needed to visit the clean and well maintained washroom.

Beautiful facility for enjoying theatre and other community productions. Deceptively spacious! Decent bar (and you can bring your drinks in the theatre!) and very clean facilities. Will be happy to return.

Don’t Give Up on me , Dad was a very compelling play. Louis and his family’s story is shared with great love, compassion and was a powerful night at the theatre. LSPU Hall is a jewel in the city. Intermission space and washrooms are top class.
