First time visiting as my son had a childrens play he wrote called ‘The Farmer Jo & Chicken Show’ to perform with his talented cast. Play was great and the venue was warm, vintage and lovely. Snacks and regular or adult beverages were available. Comfortable raked seating too.
I highly recommend visiting 🎭
What a great venue! We recently came to see a friend in Sweeny Todd. We aren’t from Calgary and this was our first time here. The building has a lot of charm. I am assuming it was an old pumphouse that was converted to a theatre. The theatre we were in was quite cozy. The lobby was a little tight, but manageable. There is a concession with drinks. We really enjoyed our time here.
Great theater and very cozy atmosphere. The actors are very personable and interactive. I bought season tickets. Parking is an issue though unless one arrives 30 minutes early. Snow banks are piled up on case of heavy snowfall..so reduces parking spots.
Well maintained heritage building that displays a lot of character. Have seen several shows in this place, and enjoyed every time. Always remember to wear long sleeves and a scarf, as it tends to get a little chilly in the auditorium.
Christmas and theatre is something that I try to make an annual tradition . I’ve been to quite a few venues for plays now . Watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Pumphouse was a good experience. I previously attended another theatre last year where the amount of theatre smoke used was too much for my sensitivities and affected my enjoyment of the show . I reached out to this theater and Untold Stories ( the performance company ) about it , and they said they don’t use a lot of smoke . They were true to their word . I sat in the fourth row ( would recommend this row for seats ) and was fine throughout the whole performance . The theatre itself is a charming little place. I look forward to returning if I hear of another show that I’m interested in .
Veteran performing-arts hub staging big musicals & original plays in a landmark waterworks facility.
